Wilder Memorial Nursery School · Founded in 1924 · Hingham, MA

At Wilder, we believe that
play is a child's work!
It is a given that play is a child's work and that the first five years of a child's life is nothing short of MIRACULOUS. Active, curious children need a safe and nurturing preschool environment. We celebrate childhood at Wilder School and encourage children to experiment, to question and to play! We respect and appreciate every child and do our best to create a rich environment so a child can learn and explore as much as possible.
Wilder's PhilosophyOur approach to early childhood education is developmental. Developmentally appropriate education is a child-directed and process oriented method which recognizes the individual growth of each child. Our program offers a wide range of learning opportunities. There are so many pressures on children today, and at Wilder we are aware of each individual child and his or her need to feel competent in such a big world. To that end we offer encouragement, support, and affirmation.

Wilder Memorial Nursery School was established in 1924 to provide care and education to young children. The school is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. We provide services to children three to six years of age without regard to their race, religion, gender, political beliefs, disability, cultural heritage, national origin, sexual orientation, or parents' marital status.
Under Director Margo Siegfried, the Wilder staff consists of very dedicated, loving, and experienced early childhood professionals. All of our staff are college graduates more than qualified to meet the certification requirements set by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. Many have a Masters degree. One staff member is also a Registered Nurse.

All of the staff receive yearly certification in First Aid and CPR, have passed a CORI and DSS background check, and are required to undergo an annual health screening. The teachers attend workshops and seminars and continue to enroll in Early Education courses to stay current with standards and practices.
